MAPPING ATAMI
THROUGH PLURALISTIC CARTOGRAPIHES
複数の主観的地図を通じて熱海を思索するデザインリサーチ
源泉地や別荘地としての魅力だけでなく、まちぐるみの取り組みにより再び活気づく熱海は、かつての観光地としての繁栄とその後の生活や日常が地層のように折り重なり、かつ同時に風景として共存する不思議な都市となっている。そんな移ろう地域の様相をどのようにすれば捉えられるだろうか。
「観光地」というメガネを外して、今在る都市を感じたまま観る。訪れる一人ひとりの主観的な感性を頼りに、「地図をつくる」という遊びを通じて、もうひとつの熱海を描き出すプロジェクトである。
ここでは、様々な人々の主観的な地図をもとに制作されたドローイングを展示した。会期中にも主観的地図をつくるワークショップを継続して行い、集まった地図を新たなドローイングへと変換し続けることで、熱海を動的に捉える。
ある一人の強い感性だけでなく、インターネットやAIによる超客観的な視点でもなく、10人、30人、100人…、顔がわかる人数程度の感性を頼りに、捉えきれない豊かな都市像をなんとか記述する方法と表現を試作／思索した。
"Mapping Atami through Pluralistic Cartographies" is a design research project that uses the subjective perspectives of individuals to create maps as a playful method of envisioning an alternative Atami. How can we capture the layered character of this ever-evolving region, where the pluralistic realities of daily life coexist with the intersecting realms of tourism and local life? Rather than relying solely on the singular perspective of an individual or the hyper-objectivity of the internet and AI, this project explores ways to describe an elusive urban landscape by assembling subjective and pluralistic cartographies.
